Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud has turned vegan, inspired by his daughter’s push for a cruelty-free lifestyle. He announced this during the opening of a new canteen at the Delhi High Court, which is run by people with neurodiverse conditions.
Chandrachud shared that his two daughters, who are specially-abled, have a significant impact on him. Their advocacy for a cruelty-free life led him to adopt a vegan diet. He also mentioned that neither he nor his wife buys silk or leather products anymore.

He said that this kind of initiative has become a movement and plans to recommend similar cafes be set up in High Courts across India, and possibly in district courts as well.
