After releasing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Sankalp Patra (manifesto) for the Jharkhand Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized that the BJP distinguishes itself from other parties. He stated that the upcoming elections are not merely a chance to change the government but a critical decision for the future of Jharkhand.
Shah urged the people of Jharkhand to choose between a government mired in corruption and a BJP-led administration focused on development under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. He highlighted issues of identity, land, and women’s safety, asserting that the BJP prioritizes border security over infiltration.
He noted that marginalized communities, including the backward classes, the poor, tribals, and Dalits, are looking to the BJP’s Sankalp Patra with optimism. Shah reiterated that the BJP is unique in its political commitment, claiming it fulfills its promises whenever in power.
Addressing concerns about the current Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s administration, Shah claimed that tribal safety is compromised under his leadership, citing a decline in the tribal population in Santhal Pargana due to infiltration. He warned that this trend threatens Jharkhand’s culture, employment, land, and women’s safety, asserting the BJP’s commitment to “Roti, Beti, Maati” (bread, daughters, and land).
Shah criticized the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) alliance for allegedly permitting infiltrators to encroach on tribal lands and pledged that a BJP government would remove these infiltrators and restore land rights to women.
The launch event in Ranchi also featured Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Sanjay Seth, and BJP Jharkhand president Babulal Marandi. Elections for the 81-seat Jharkhand Assembly will take place in two phases on November 13 and November 20, with vote counting scheduled for November 23. In the last assembly election, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha secured 30 seats, the BJP won 25, and Congress took 16.
