On Saturday, a vegetable market in Zhangjiakou, in northern China’s Hebei province caught fire, killing eight people, and injuring 15 others, as reported by the state media.
The flame has calmed down after more than an hour after it started that was around 8:40 a.m. The authorities have launched an investigation looking into the cause of the fire but the details are still unclear.
As per the videos posted on China’s Weibo microblogging platform showed thick black smoke in the air over the market with big flames burning.
The blaze happened at Liguang vegetable market in the Qiaoxi district of Zhangjiakou. Since its opening in 2011, the market offers a range of goods such as fruits, seafood, and electronics, according to Qichacha company provider.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
