China strongly defended its decision to invite Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to the Victory Day parade in Beijing. The event, which also saw President Xi Jinping walking alongside Putin and Kim, has created new waves in global politics. US President Donald Trump accused the three leaders of conspiring against the United States. However, Beijing denied the charge and insisted that its diplomacy is never aimed at a third country. The gathering also comes at a sensitive time as the tariff war between China and the US deepens, and Trump faces political challenges at home.
China Responds to Trump’s Allegations
Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun rejected Trump’s claims directly. He said, “China’s development of diplomatic relations with any country is never directed against any third party.” His statement came after Trump delivered sharp remarks in his Victory Day greeting to China. Trump had said the key issue was whether President Xi would acknowledge the “massive amount of support and blood” that the United States gave China to secure its freedom during past wars. He then addressed Xi with sarcasm, asking him to give “warm regards” to Putin and Kim “as you conspire against the United States of America.”

Trump Watches the Parade
Trump later confirmed that he watched the military parade in Beijing. He said, “I thought it was very, very impressive, but I understood the reason they were doing it. And they were hoping I was watching — and I was watching.” His comments added to the political heat, as the US remains locked in a tariff battle with China and the image of Xi, Putin, and Kim walking side-by-side during the parade only fueled tensions further.
Xi, Putin, and Kim Steal the Spotlight
The sight of the three leaders together dominated global headlines while their unity sent a message that unsettled Washington at a time when Trump is under pressure both internationally and domestically. Analysts have linked this partnership to growing opposition to US trade measures.
Xi and Kim Plan Talks
China confirmed that Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un will hold talks during Kim’s rare visit outside North Korea. Spokesman Guo Jiakun announced, “The two leaders will hold talks and have an in-depth exchange of views on China-DPRK relations and issues of common concern.” He added that China is ready to work with North Korea to strengthen communication and deepen governance exchanges.

The China Victory Day parade 2025 has therefore become more than a commemoration. It now symbolizes shifting global alliances. Xi, Putin, and Kim stood together while Trump accused them of conspiracy, marking another sharp turn in already tense US-China relations.
