The “Martyrdom Memorial of the First War of Independence” being built by the Haryana Government in Ambala Cantt in honour of the martyrs of India’s first war of independence, 1857, will soon be ready .After the completion of the civil work of the memorial, approval of about Rs. 112 crore was given in the High-Power Works Purchase Committee (HPWPC) meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Manohar Lal for other works of the museum including digital equipment.

The memorial will not only provide information about the first battle for independence but also showcase the contributions of known and unsung freedom fighters and heroes from Haryana. Furthermore, in meetings of the High-Powered Purchase Committee (HPPC), Department High Powered Purchase Committee (DHPPC) and High-Powered Works Purchase Committee (HPWPC), approvals were granted for purchases of various items exceeding Rs. 1500 crore. Following negotiations with different bidders, a significant saving of approximately Rs. 112 crore was achieved. It is noteworthy that a saving of more than Rs. 21.5 crore was also made in the construction of the ‘Martyrdom Memorial of the First War of Independence’ by the Information, Public Relations, Languages, and Culture Department. The meeting was attended by Labour Minister, Anoop Dhanak, and School Education Minister, Kanwar Pal participated via video conferencing. A total of 28 agenda items were discussed, and approvals were granted for all of them.

The micro irrigation projects being implemented by the Haryana Government with the vision of water conservation and more production with less water are continuously gaining momentum. In another development related to water conservation, a solar/grid-operated micro-irrigation project will be established for the supply of treated surplus water on Jatal Road, Panipat. Apart from this, a budget of Rs. 14 crore was approved for the rehabilitation work of the Mahendragarh Distributory. Apart from this, approval for the purchase of pump sets and pipes for water supply at various places was given nod.

Approval was also given for the widening and strengthening of various roads, including the widening of roads in Hisar, Narnaul-Nangal Chaudhary road, Hansi-Sisai-Lohari Ragho-Haibatpur-Kheri-Jalab Road along with various other roads of Mahendragarh, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Karnal, and Kaithal districts, as well as the improvement and strengthening of roads in Rewari-Mahendragarh, Rohtak-Kharkhoda-Delhi border, Jhajjar-Kosli, Maham-Kalanaur-Beri roads.

Apart from this, work has also been allotted for development of infrastructure facilities like road network, water supply system, sewage treatment processes, etc. in IMT, Kharkhoda, District Sonipat. Approval was also given for the construction of an academic block in Maharshi Valmiki Sanskrit University at Mundri, District Kaithal and purchase of vehicles for the police department at a cost of about Rs. 10 crore.In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner of Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue and Home Department, TVSN Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary of Finance Department, Anurag Rastogi, Additional Chief Secretary of Industry and Commerce Department, Anand Mohan Sharan, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, V Umashankar, Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur, Commissioner and Secretary of Irrigation and Water Resources Department Pankaj Agarwal, Director General of Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture Department, Mandeep Singh Brar, Managing Director of Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation, Yash Garg, Additional Director (Administration) of Information, Public Relations, Languages and Culture Department, Vivek Kalia besides other senior officers were present.
