Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who also holds the finance portfolio, presented the state budget for the financial year 2023–24 on Monday.
The budget of more than one lakh 120 thousand crore was presented using a tablet, so it is called an “e-Budget”.
Noticeably, no new tax has been announced in the budget. He has made budget announcements while keeping all sections in mind, while reading the budget in the assembly; the Chief Minister mentioned the Chhattisgarh model.
Four new medical colleges are to be established in Manendragarh, Gidam, Janjgir Champa, and Kabirdham districts. A new thermal power station will be set up in Korba West.
A proposal has been made to open 101 new Swami Atmanand English-medium schools.
Apart from this, light metro service has also been announced from Nava Raipur to Durg.
The Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Bhoomihin Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana will be extended to the rural area as well as the Nagar Panchayat area this year.
The amount of the monthly pension given under the Social Security Pension Scheme to the elderly, disabled, and widows and abandoned women has been increased from Rs 350 per month to Rs 500 per month.
The amount of anganwadi workers working in 46,666 anganwadi centres across the state has been increased from Rs 6,500 to Rs 10,000 every month. However, anganwadi assistants will get Rs 5,000 instead of Rs 3500.
Village kotwals pre-existing amount has gone up from Rs. 2250 to Rs. 3000. The village of Patel will get Rs 3,000 instead of Rs. 2,000. The government has also made a provision to give Rs. 3,000 to Gram Panchayats.
Cooks who prepare mid-day meals in schools will receive Rs 1800 in place of Rs 1500 per month, while the amount of sanitation workers in schools has increased from Rs 2500 to Rs 2800 per month.
Under the ‘Mukhya Mantri Kanya Vivah Yojana’ the amount has gone from 25 to 50 thousand.
The state government is set to spend Rs 1,000 crore on construction works in urban areas.
A proposal for 50 crore has been allocated to encourage the establishment of small-scale and cottage industries in industrial parks.
