Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel stated on Tuesday that with the work done in the last five years, Naxalism has greatly decreased as the first round of voting for the 20 seats in the Chattisgarh Assembly is currently underway. Consequently, the Chief Minister anticipates a high voting turnout in areas impacted by naxal.

“Earlier, big incidents used to happen, now small incidents are happening. I think this will also stop in the future. Naxalism has retreated to a great extent with the work we have done in 5 years. As a result, polling booths have been set up inside villages. People will vote in their village itself. There is a possibility of high voting percentage in naxal affected areas” said Bhupesh Baghel.

Up until nine in the morning, 10.18% of voters in the Dantewada affected areas had cast ballots. The voting percentage in Kanker is 16.48%, while it is 4.21% in the Sukma district. Under heavy security, the first round of the Chattisgarh Assembly polls for 20 seats in the southern part of the state got underway on Tuesday morning.

“The first phase of voting for Chhattisgarh Assembly is today. I make a humble appeal to all the voter brothers and sisters. Do vote. It is the season of paddy harvesting, yet your participation in this Mahayagya is very important and it is very important to elect your government.” Please vote for it,” Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said.
He affirmed that if re-elected the state government would once again give loan waivers to farmers.

The 90-member house of Chhattisgarh is holding elections in two stages, the second of which is set for November 17. Twelve of the twenty constituencies in the state that are holding polls are located in the Bastar division. Voting is taking place in districts like Bastar, Dantewada, Kanker, Kabeerdham, and Rajnandgaon that are affected by the Naxals. Voter tallying is set for December 3.
