Tensions that erupted following a clash in Biranpur village in Chhattisgarh’s Bemetara district appear to be escalating, with two more bodies with injuries from a neighboring hamlet adding to the existing conflict.
The remains were discovered in the village of Korvai, which falls within the jurisdiction of the Saja police station, according to Bemetara Superintendent of Police (SP) Indira Kalyan Elesela. The bodies of two unidentified people were discovered in a village some 6-7 km from Biranpur, according to the SP.
As per the SP, police have sent the bodies for autopsies and begun an investigation to determine their identities. Police have also launched an investigation to determine whether anyone is missing in the region.
The bodies had head injuries, according to the prima facie inquiry, but more clarity will be obtained after the autopsy report is received, he added.
Meanwhile, Bemetara Collector P S Elma revealed that the deceased was Rahim Mohammed (55) and his son Idul Mohammad (35), both from the area of Biranpur.
Notably, on April 8, a young man named Bhuneswar Sahu (22) was slain in a dispute between two communities in Biranpur village.
In response to the incident, authorities initiated an investigation and arrested over a dozen people.
