Graham Potter will try to salvage his career at Chelsea and their UCL tie after a 1-0 loss in the first leg when Chelsea hosts Dortmund in the second leg on 8 March.
With his quick pace and skill set, German attacker Karim Adeyemi, 21, broke past Chelsea’s defence to score the game’s only goal. On the field, Chelsea players anguished, sweated, and shed blood in an effort to recover. Dortmund’s tenacious defence, though, managed to preserve their one-goal advantage. Since the beginning of the Graham Potter era, Chelsea has been trapped in muck. Yet, Chelsea finally succeeded in luring fortune to their side as they defeated Leeds United for their first victory since 15 January.
The hosts have played 12 matches in 2023 and they have managed to win only two of them. In the remaining ten games they have lost 6 and drawn 4. On the other hand, Dortmund has yet to taste defeat’s sour flavour. In 2023, Dortmund has 11 wins in 11 matches.
While speaking in the pre-match press conference Graham Potter addressed the fact that if Chelsea loses the tie, the season will be over for him. “I agree it’s a big game, an exciting game, a chance to go through to the last eight of the Champions League. It’ll be a special night. Our thoughts are on being positive and trying to win the game. It’s a good challenge for us, a big challenge for us. We’re excited for it and looking forward to it,” Graham Potter said in the pre-match conference.
The fate of the game will be conspired by the performance of the players from both teams. For Chelsea Joao Felix, Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling will play a pivotal role in the attacking front. While for Dortmund, Jude Bellingham, Karim Adeyemi and Marco Reus will threaten Chelsea’s hope for a turnaround.
