Deputy Commissioner Sushil Sarwan inaugurated the Geeta Jayanti Mahotsav 2023 at Mahila College Sector 14 by lighting the lamp. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the significance of the Bhagavad Gita, stating that it is the essence of life, and the government has promoted it globally. The Geeta serves as an inspiration to follow the right path, and Lord Krishna’s timeless message remains relevant even today.

The two-day Geeta Jayanti Mahotsav featured an exhibition on December 22, which was reviewed by the Deputy Commissioner. The exhibition showcased a divine and unique confluence of spirituality, culture, and art. Various departments and self-help groups set up stalls, displaying a range of products.

As part of the district-level festival, a Geeta seminar themed “Geeta for life” was organized. National Teacher Award winner Ramdiya Shastri and retired principal Dharampal Sharma delved into the intricacies of the Gita, highlighting its main essence. They discussed the Gita’s teachings on the battle between righteousness and unrighteousness, emphasizing that victory lies in righteousness, inspiring individuals to progress in life toward virtue. Reciting even a single verse from the Gita, they asserted, can enhance one’s life.

Key figures present at the event included Additional Deputy Commissioner Varsha Khanagwal, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Gagandeep, SDM Kalka Nisha Yadav, and principals from various educational institutions. The stage was moderated by Dr. Rajbir Kaushik.
The district-level Geeta Jayanti Mahotsav provided citizens with insights into the teachings of the Gita and the opportunity to benefit from government services and schemes. More than a dozen stalls were set up by various departments during the festival, offering information on schemes dedicated to ‘Antyodaya’ and public welfare.

Deputy Commissioner Sushil Sarwan highlighted the city procession during the Geeta Jayanti Mahotsav, featuring beautiful tableaux presented by religious and social organizations. The Nagar Shobha Yatra, starting from Shri Krishna Kripa Mandir and Shri Ram Mandir in Sector 2, would traverse through various sectors, drawing attention and admiration from devotees and enthusiasts. The procession would culminate at Indra Dhanush Auditorium, where various organizations would extend a grand welcome at designated points along the route.
