Chandigarh police arrests 6 proclaimed offenders

The special operation conducted by the team of PO and summon staff of Chandigarh Police against POs involved in heinous cases is ongoing. The team successfully arrested 6 proclaimed offender fugitives, including one involved in a 7-year-old case of scratching. Hariom Sharma, Inspector/In-charge of the PO and summon staff, led the operation.
One of the arrested POs, Mithun, a resident of village Jagatpura, district Mohali, Punjab, was apprehended under a case registered at Police Station 36 Chandigarh. The case stemmed from a complaint filed by Deepa, a resident of Sector-45-B, Chandigarh, regarding a snatching incident. The accused failed to appear in court, leading to their declaration as a proclaimed offender by the court. The accused was subsequently produced before the concerned court.

In another case, fugitive Gyan Chand, a resident of District Yamunanagar, Haryana, was arrested under the Excise Act at Police Station-31, Chandigarh. The accused was involved in buying liquor from Chandigarh and smuggling it to Punjab and Uttar Pradesh at inflated prices. Similarly, two proclaimed offenders, Mohd. Haseen and Shamsher, residents of Sector 29-B, Chandigarh, were apprehended under the Gambling Act at Police Station Mauli Jagra, Chandigarh, for their failure to appear in court.

Additionally, Ravi Kumar, a proclaimed offender residing in BDC, Sector-26, Chandigarh, was arrested under the Excise Act in a case at Police Station IT Park, Chandigarh. Lastly, a non-bailable warrant was executed resulting in the arrest of accused Rohit alias Two Point, a resident of New Indira Colony, Manimajra, Chandigarh. The accused was promptly presented before the court.
