Chandigarh: In a statement, Mayor Kuldeep Kumar expressed concern over the hindrance in the development work of Chandigarh, accusing Municipal Corporation officials of obstructing projects at the behest of the BJP. He highlighted that three letters were issued by the Mayor’s Office to Municipal Corporation officials, focusing on the Budget House meeting on March 6, a special House meeting on March 7, and elections and the F&CC meeting on March 11. While action was taken on two letters, the special House meeting scheduled for March 7 was disrupted.

Mayor Kuldeep Kumar emphasized that Municipal Corporation officials deliberately impeded Chandigarh’s development efforts and public facilities. He cited a specific incident where a special House meeting on March 7 aimed to provide 20,000 liters of free water and free parking to Chandigarh residents, but this initiative was obstructed by municipal officials.Expressing disappointment with the Secretary of the Municipal Corporation for not taking further action on the March 7 meeting, Mayor Kuldeep Kumar condemned the actions that prevented essential services for the city’s residents.

He called for mutual support to ensure Chandigarh’s welfare and development, discouraging such hindrances. Mayor Kuldeep Kumar urged collaboration to elevate Chandigarh’s status and overcome past irregularities in Municipal Corporation elections, aspiring to make it the country’s premier city.
