Today, a Community Policing Programme – ‘SAMAVESH’ was launched by Sh. Banwari Lal Purohit, the Hon’ble Governor Punjab cum Administrator, UT, and Chandigarh and flagged off 52 new motorbikes in collaboration with Hero Motor Pvt. Ltd. at Tagore Theatre, Sector 18, and Chandigarh.

Singh, IPS, IGP/UT, Manisha Chaudhary, IPS, SSP/Traffic & Security, Kanwardeep Kaur, IPS, SSP/UT, Ketan Bansal, IPS, SP/HQR and about 600 audience including members of Samavesh Committee as well as area wise Municipal Councilors were present at the inaugural function.
DGP, UT, Chandigarh delivered the welcome address and gave an overview of the Samavesh programme. The Samavesh Kendras are established to provide police services at one desk to enhance efficiency and effective policing at all levels, especially at the Police Station level. Samavesh caters to collecting all the data/information at a common platform. It provides a physical space for the citizens to avail police services and shatter their concerns with the police officers.
The Samavesh Kendras will play a key role in improving the image of the police and police public relationship. The efficient and dignified delivery of services is the uniqueness of Samavesh Kendras easy to approach, Front end of the Police Station / other offices, clean and neat setup, Air-Conditioned environment, facility of toilet, recreation, well-trained policemen in civvies.
