Chandigarh, a Union Territory, has unveiled a budget of Rs 6513.62 crore for the financial year 2024-25, as presented by the Government of India’s Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure. This budget marks a notable increase of Rs 426.52 crore (7.01 percent) compared to the previous financial year’s estimate.
The financial allocation encompasses both revenue (Rs 5858.62 crore) and capital (Rs 655.00 crore). Significant sectors receiving substantial funding include energy (Rs 1093.70 crore), education (Rs 1031.98 crore), housing and urban development (Rs 875.54 crore), police (Rs 823.21 crore), health (Rs 804.77 crore), and transport (Rs 455.80 crore). An additional Rs 1428.62 crore has been allocated to various other sectors. This budget underscores the government’s dedication to fostering comprehensive development, addressing key sectors, and improving the overall welfare of Chandigarh’s residents.
