Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) has presented a special gift to the city’s residents on Diwali. Travelling from Chandigarh to Delhi Airport has become easier and more affordable. CTU has introduced an economical High Capacity Air Conditioned (HCAC) bus service for this route. The fare for a single journey on this bus will be only INR 485. Until now, the fare for Volvo buses from Chandigarh to Delhi Airport was around INR 800 per journey. This CTU bus service will commence on Tuesday. Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) is providing tough competition to neighbouring state roadways due to its efficient operations. It has excelled in public transportation for several years, earning a reputation as the best bus service in the country. Before this, CTU operated bus services to various religious destinations in North India. Following the same trend, the Chandigarh Transport Department has introduced an economical bus service to Delhi Airport. The fare for this bus is INR 485 per person. In contrast, the fare for Volvo buses is approximately INR 800 per journey. The CTU buses run on long-distance routes, challenging the neighbouring state roadways. The reasonable fares make passengers prefer CTU buses. At the time of Punjab’s reorganization, Chandigarh Transport Undertaking was established on November 1, 1966, with only 30 buses. Today, CTU boasts 634 buses in its fleet. Currently, CTU’s buses cover a route of 83,269 kilometres for city/suburban services and 44,025 kilometres for long-distance services, with a total distance of 127,294 kilometres. With the integration of 60 more buses in its fleet this fiscal year, CTU aims to strengthen its inter-state and tri-city services. Riding in CTU buses is increasingly becoming popular among passengers. Pradhuman Singh,
Director of Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU), informed that the Chandigarh Transport Department has initiated a cheap fare HCAC bus service to Delhi Airport. The fare for this bus is INR 485 per person. The Director pointed out that the successful leadership and guidance of senior officials in the Chandigarh administration have contributed to the progress and advancement of the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking.
The transportation system in the city will soon be further improved. A review of Tricity routes will identify areas where more buses are needed, and additional buses will be put into operation. In the coming days, more buses will be run in neighbouring states during holidays, ensuring passengers have no difficulties regarding the transportation system.
