Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole, conducted a comprehensive review meeting in Baramulla today to assess the preparedness for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024 in the 1-Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency, ensuring a smooth and fair electoral process.
The meeting, held at Dak Bungalow, was attended by key officials including Deputy Commissioners of Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts, respective Superintendents of Police, Deputy Election Officers, Assistant Returning Officers (AROs), and election officials from all three districts.
The 1-Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency encompasses all Assembly constituencies of Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora Districts, along with two Assembly constituencies of Budgam district.
Key agenda items discussed during the meeting included the meticulous implementation of electoral roll processes, logistical requirements, manpower management plans, risk assessment strategies, transportation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), polling staff, and security personnel.
Furthermore, discussions revolved around ensuring robust security arrangements in both plain and border areas, allocation of adequate human resources, implementation of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation Program (SVEEP), comprehensive material management plans, efficient route mapping, and extensive training programs for election officers.
CEO Pandurang K Pole emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment to encourage widespread participation in the electoral process. He instructed officials to establish control rooms to monitor various aspects of the election, including vehicle tracking, communication from polling stations, and media monitoring.
To enhance public participation, the CEO directed the implementation of awareness campaigns at the booth level, involving various stakeholders such as government employees, youth icons, and influencers, alongside organizing sports events and door-to-door campaigns.
In addition, Pole stressed the provision of Adequate Minimum Facilities (AMF) for polling staff and security personnel on election day, ensuring their comfort and well-being while fulfilling their duties.
