CPI national executive member and Rajya Sabha MP Adv P Santosh Kumar MP said that the central government should end its discriminatory attitude towards minorities including Christian, Muslim, Sikh, Parsi and other communities.

In a reply to a question asked by P Sandosh Kumar regarding the National Minority Development and Financing Corporation‘s finance assistance, it was revealed that in the past five years only 8 lakh people were benefited.

A clear perusal into this, in the context of available census data, reveals that the finance assistance provided is very minimal. Adv P Sandosh Kumar commented that in the context of rising hatred and discriminatory practices against minorities including Christians, Muslims and Sikh such lapses and wilful neglection from the side of Union government is completely unacceptable.

CPI, in its election manifesto for 2024 general elections had promised granting statutory status to National Minority Commission. The (current) data revealed by Union government highlights the relevance of this.
