Actress Rhea Chakraborty, who has been under the scanner since Sushant Singh Rajput’s death on 14 June, has been interrogated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for the first time since the agency started its probe in late actor’s death case. The actress was interrogated for more than 10 hours.
Rhea was summoned by the central agency to appear before its probe team on Friday around 10:30 am. Rhea along with her brother Shovik left their residence around 10 am to reach the DRDO guest house in suburban Santacruz, where the probe team is stationed.
Before Rhea’s arrival, Sushant’s friend and flatmate Siddharth Pithani and manager Samual Miranda had reached the DRDO guest house to join the investigation.
The CBI team, which is in Mumbai from the last eight days to investigate the case, on Thursday recorded Shovik’s statement for more than eight hours.
Rhea’s father has also been questioned by several investigators. The CBI has so far questioned the late actor’s flatmate Pithani, cook Neeraj Singh and domestic help Deepesh Sawant, among others, as part of its probe in the high-profile case.
Last week, India’s top court announced that the CBI will investigate the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. As part of the probe, a team from Delhi’s AIIMS will travel to Mumbai to examine Sushant Singh Rajput’s autopsy reports.
Recently, the new drug angle had emerged based on WhatsApp chats retrieved from Rhea’s phone. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has also filed a case to investigate the drug angle.
Enforcement Directorate, which is inquiring into alleged money laundering and fraud charges against Rhea and her family, questioned her father Indrajit Chakraborty on Thursday. The agency reportedly searched the family’s bank locker for six hours, in the presence of Rhea Chakraborty’s father. He was with the Enforcement Directorate team till 9 pm.
