With the announcement of the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2023 results on Thursday, Maharashtra stands out with four candidates scoring a perfect 100 percentile, and Mumbai producing three of them. This elite trio comprises an aspiring student, an IIM attendee, and a CAT coaching teacher.
Among the high-achieving candidates is 20-year-old Viraj Modi, originally from Ahmedabad, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at Mumbai’s NMIMS. A final-year student with Level 1 CFA clearance, Viraj aspires to establish a career in finance and believes that an MBA degree will pave the way for success in his chosen field. Expressing his enthusiasm, Viraj, who received CAT coaching from IMS, stated, “I am also looking forward to exploring various finance sector career opportunities post-MBA.”
Soham Katkar, a 23-year-old student at IIM Calcutta, is another 100 percentile scorer, marking his third attempt at CAT and a second perfect score.
Having appeared for CAT for the first time in 2021 and securing admission to IIM Calcutta, Soham, a computer science graduate from K J Somaiya college, views the annual CAT challenge as a test of his intellectual prowess. Despite his engineering background, Soham remains committed to the MBA route and plans to continue taking the CAT exam each year.
The third 100 percentile scorer from Mumbai prefers to be known as Scrabbler and serves as a mentor at the IMS coaching institute.
This remarkable achievement marks Scrabbler’s 17th attempt, with 13 instances of achieving a perfect score, including CAT 2023, according to Hemang Panchmatia, CAT head at IMS.
