Aishwarya Rai and Aditi Rao Hydari, two prominent Bollywood actors, are set to attend the upcoming Cannes Film Festival as representatives of India, marking their return to the international film festival as ambassadors for L’Oreal.
While Aishwarya is a regular attendee at Cannes, Aditi made her debut at the festival in 2022. The 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to be held from May 14 to 25. Both actors will participate in the festival as ambassadors of L’Oréal Paris, aiming to showcase the increasing impact of Indian cinema globally. This year’s festival theme, ‘Many Ways To Be An Icon,’ focuses on confidence and self-empowerment.
Regarding their participation, both Aishwarya and Aditi are excited to return. Aditi expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I am thrilled to embark on this journey to the esteemed Festival de Cannes as the spokesperson for the brand.” She emphasized the importance of women embracing their unique selves and resonated with the theme of the year, “Many ways to be an icon.”
Aditi emphasized that being an icon is not about conforming to a standard but about embracing one’s unique journey and inherent worth. She also noted, “It is an honor to be aligned with a brand that has consistently championed the cause of women’s empowerment, fostering confidence and growth in every facet of their lives.”
In addition to Aishwarya and Aditi, actor Sobhita Dhulipala will also grace the red carpet at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, representing an ice cream brand. Furthermore, music icon King is expected to make an appearance on the red carpet as well.
The Cannes Film Festival will bring together a host of stars to celebrate the world of cinema. Notable figures such as Demi Moore, Meryl Streep, and George Lucas are anticipated to walk the red carpet. Meryl Streep will be honored with a special Palme d’Or at the opening ceremony.
This year’s Palme d’Or recipients include George Lucas, known for his work on “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones,” and Japanese animation powerhouse Studio Ghibli. Other awards, including the Golden Palm, Grand Prix, Jury Prize, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, and Best Short Film, will be announced later.
India will be represented by two films at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. Sandhya Suri’s “Santosh” will be featured in the Un Certain Regard section, while Payal Kapadia’s “All We Imagine As Light” will be screened in the competition section.
