Candyland theme takes centre stage at Chandigarh Carnival kickoff

Step into Candyland at this year’s Chandigarh Carnival, set to begin on Friday (November 24) at the open ground opposite the Government Museum and Art Gallery in Sector 10. Delighting children, the carnival’s theme revolves around candies, evident in every aspect from decorations, motifs to even the lively tableaus.
The inauguration of this festivity, to be graced by Union Territory Administrator Banwarilal Purohit at 12 noon, will have MP Kirron Kher as the guest of honor.
Anticipate a splendid affair throughout the three-day event, boasting a vintage car display, musical evenings by renowned artists like Kailash Kher and Babbu Mann, an array of exhibition stalls, amusement rides, and more meticulously arranged by the authorities.
The schedule includes the flag-off of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra van and Carnival parade post-inauguration, followed by cultural performances by artists from the North Zone Cultural Centre and an art exhibition featuring eminent artists at the open ground. Visitors can explore exhibition stalls, food outlets, amusement parks, floats, and business stalls at the venue from 10 am to 10 pm until November 26 (Sunday).
The harmonious tunes of Himachal Police’s orchestra, dubbed ‘Harmony of the Pines,’ will enchant the audience today at 7 pm.
Simultaneously, a private event at the Sector 34 ground promises captivating performances by singers B Praak, Raftaar, and Ikka on Saturday and Sunday.
Vintage car enthusiasts can admire the display at the Museum and Art Gallery from 10 am to 7 pm. Additionally, an event titled ‘Be a tourist in your own city and see its many wild wonders’ is scheduled from noon to 2 pm, alongside the screening of the film ‘A Tour of the Wildlife India’ from 4 pm to 5 pm.
The entertainment continues with Kailash Kher’s performance at 7 pm on November 25 at the open ground, followed by Babbu Mann’s enthralling show the next evening.
Ensuring a safe and secure environment, Chandigarh Police have been entrusted with adequate security arrangements for the duration of the carnival
