Khalistani Terrorist Arsh Dalla Secures Bail in Canada, Extradition Efforts Intensify

A Canadian court has granted bail to Khalistani terrorist Arshdeep Singh Gill, also known as Arsh Dalla, who is the de facto chief of the banned Khalistan Tiger Force. This decision comes as India intensifies its efforts to extradite him. Dalla was granted bail on the condition of providing a surety bond of $30,000, with the next hearing in his case scheduled for February 24, 2025.

Dalla was arrested in Halton, Canada, in October after sustaining injuries from an attack by unknown shooters. Since his arrest, Indian authorities have been actively pursuing his extradition. Sources indicate that the bail was granted despite a lack of cooperation from Indian officials. Nevertheless, India plans to maintain communication with Canadian authorities regarding Dalla’s case.

India’s Extradition Push

The Indian Foreign Ministry recently announced that a court in Ontario has listed India’s extradition request for a hearing. The ministry has also sent separate requests to verify financial details related to Dalla’s activities, which were provided last year. Dalla is labeled a “proclaimed offender” and is implicated in over 50 cases, including murder, attempted murder, extortion, and terrorist acts, as well as terror financing. He was designated a ‘terrorist’ in January 2023 and is facing multiple charges filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Indian authorities believe that Dalla has been in direct contact with Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI, and that he has assumed leadership of the Khalistani terror outfit following the assassination of Hardeep Nijjar in June 2023.

Details of Dalla’s Arrest

Arsh Dalla, originally from Moga district in Punjab, was arrested on October 28 in Ontario. Reports indicate that he was in a vehicle with his associate, Gurjant Singh, when an accidental discharge from a weapon in the car injured both men. After being admitted to the hospital, Dalla provided police with a fabricated account of an attack.

During the investigation, Canadian police discovered bullet marks on their vehicle, a grey Dodge Durango, along with two bullet casings inside. A subsequent search of Dalla’s residence uncovered a Taurus 9mm handgun with a loaded magazine, a rifle, a shotgun, and two high-capacity magazines in a gun safe. Dalla and Singh were arrested and charged with multiple serious offenses, including illegal possession of firearms and tampering with evidence.

Arsh Dalla began his criminal career as a local gangster in Punjab before relocating to Canada in 2020 on a study visa. After a dispute with gangster Sukha Lumma, Dalla returned to Punjab, where he and his associates killed Lumma before fleeing back to Canada. According to the NIA, Dalla currently resides in Surrey, British Columbia, with his family. He has reportedly been recruiting young individuals from Punjab and Haryana through social media to expand his terror network.
