The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reported that the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) incurred a loss of Rs 41.1 crore due to “undue concessions” granted to entities, including Reliance affiliates. The report highlighted irregularities in subletting charges, direct allotment of industrial plots, and allotment of plots despite their non-availability. The MIDC defended its actions, citing increased demand and Covid-19 emergencies. The CAG criticized MIDC’s decision-making, calling for transparency and adherence to policies, and emphasized the need for fixed responsibilities and timely recovery of dues.
