On Wednesday, both the Sensex and Nifty benchmarks kept falling, each dropping nearly 1% and reaching new lows for the day. This marks the sixth consecutive session of losses for both indices.

Index Performance at 10:05 am

By 10:05 am, Sensex had fallen by over 860 points to 75,430.23, while Nifty had dropped nearly 260 points to 22,814.50.

Sectoral Indices Turn Negative

Most sectoral indices turned negative, with the exception of the Nifty IT index, which showed a modest gain of 0.28%. On the other hand, Nifty Realty, which had experienced a sharp decline on Tuesday, fell another 2.62%, while Nifty Media dropped by 2.53%.

Smallcap and Microcap Indices Struggle

The Nifty Smallcap 250 index dropped more than 3%, while the Nifty Microcap 250 index declined by 2.92%.

Top Losers on Sensex and Nifty

Among the biggest losers on Sensex were Mahindra and Mahindra, Zomato, Reliance, Adani Ports, and IndusInd Bank. Similarly, on Nifty, Reliance Industries, Bharat Electronics Limited, Axis Bank, and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited were the top losers.

Record Low for Many Stocks

A record 433 stocks on Nifty hit their 52-week lows, while 556 stocks on Sensex reached their yearly low levels.

Ongoing Market Downturn

Over the last six sessions, Sensex has dropped nearly 3,200 points, and Nifty is nearing a 1,000-point drop. Consequently, the market continues its downward trend.
