PM GatiShakti Transforming India’s Infrastructure, Connectivity, and Jobs: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP) on Sunday, highlighting its significant role in transforming India’s infrastructure, enhancing multimodal connectivity, driving job creation, and improving logistics as part of the country’s vision for a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). The initiative, launched in October 2021, recently marked its third anniversary.

PM Modi Lauds GatiShakti’s Achievements

In a social media post on X, PM Modi emphasized the GatiShakti plan’s role in speeding up progress, entrepreneurship, and innovation across the country. He said, “PM GatiShakti is transforming India’s infrastructure by boosting multimodal connectivity, driving job creation, and improving logistics for Viksit Bharat.”

He further stated that the National Master Plan has emerged as a transformative initiative, revolutionizing infrastructure by fostering collaboration among various stakeholders, reducing delays, and creating new opportunities for millions of people.

Three Years of Transforming Infrastructure

Celebrating the plan’s three-year milestone, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry released a detailed study on the achievements of the initiative. The ministry highlighted that GatiShakti is also gaining international recognition, with India engaging in diplomatic talks with neighboring countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and even countries in Africa such as Madagascar, Senegal, and Gambia. These efforts are focused on promoting the use of GatiShakti and geospatial technology for integrated infrastructure planning.

Wider Data Access and International Collaboration

The government is exploring ways to grant access to non-government users to utilize non-sensitive and shareable data related to infrastructure planning. This data will be provided securely to support developmental activities across sectors.

In its first three years, PM GatiShakti has successfully integrated 44 central ministries, 36 states and union territories, and mapped over 1,600 data layers, making it a vital tool for the efficient planning and execution of infrastructure projects. Over 200 major infrastructure projects have been evaluated using GatiShakti’s principles, and more than 533 projects have been mapped by states and UTs on the GatiShakti portal.

Aligning with National Logistics Policy

Aligned with the National Logistics Policy (NLP), the GatiShakti Master Plan has been instrumental in addressing infrastructure gaps, reducing logistics costs, and improving India’s overall logistics performance. The initiative continues to foster synergy across ministries, states, and UTs, streamlining capital investments and accelerating infrastructure development across the nation.
