In a recent wave of tech layoffs, the popular Android launcher app Nova Launcher has announced that its entire team has been laid off. Branch, the parent company of Nova Launcher, reduced its workforce significantly, leaving only Kevin Barry, the app’s founder, as the full-time developer.
Barry addressed the situation, stating that Nova and Branch would continue collaborating while he remains in charge of Nova Launcher’s development. In a public post, Barry acknowledged the hard work of the laid-off employees and expressed gratitude for his time with them.
Barry clarified that the original Nova team primarily consisted of himself. He later added Cliff for customer support and contracted Rob for development work. Despite these changes, Barry has always been the lead developer and will continue directing Nova Launcher.
Nova Launcher is a staple for Android users seeking customization beyond default launchers, known for its extensive features and sleek interface. The app’s loyal user base can expect continued innovation under Barry’s guidance.
