Microsoft Upgrades AI Assistant With Voice And Vision Features

Microsoft is bringing significant upgrades to its AI assistant, Copilot, by adding voice and vision tools aimed at enhancing user experience. The updated Copilot app can now read news summaries and answer questions about the text and images you are browsing online.

Copilot Daily: News Summaries with Ease

One of the standout features of this upgrade is Copilot Daily, which will read you a daily summary of important news. This feature aims to keep users informed on the go without the need to scroll through multiple articles.

Copilot Vision: Interacting with Text and Images

Copilot Vision adds another layer of interaction by answering questions about the text and images users encounter online. Whether you’re browsing websites or reading documents, this feature offers useful guidance, allowing for a more engaging experience.

Cross-Device Compatibility

The upgraded Copilot works seamlessly across iOS, Android, Windows, and the web. Microsoft is also introducing a version of Copilot for WhatsApp, expanding its reach and usability.

Limited Testing for Vision Feature

To ensure data safety, Microsoft is testing Copilot Vision with a limited list of popular websites. Users need to opt-in for this feature, ensuring transparency and safety as Microsoft collects data for improvements.

Creating Emotional Connections

Microsoft’s AI consumer chief, Mustafa Suleyman, highlighted the company’s vision of moving beyond just utilitarian products. He emphasized the importance of creating emotionally intelligent interfaces that empathize with users, saying, “Now that we actually have these very conversational interfaces… it requires us to exercise a totally new muscle in the organization.”

A Personal Advocate

Suleyman also shared that, with user permission, Copilot aims to eventually act on your behalf to simplify daily tasks, giving you more time to focus on what matters most.

Microsoft’s new AI features represent a bold step toward more intelligent and interactive technology, and Copilot is leading the way in delivering these experiences.
