Indian Markets Open Higher Following Positive Global Trends; IT and Metal Lead Gains

Indian markets opened with gains on Monday, buoyed by positive trends in global markets. This comes after Indian indices suffered a loss of more than 4% last week. The Nifty 50 started at 25,084.10, up by 69.50 points or 0.28%, while the BSE Sensex opened at 81,852.01, gaining 163.56 points or 0.20%.

Market experts anticipate a positive outlook for Indian markets this week, though they caution that geopolitical developments and the upcoming earnings season could influence performance. “We expect better market conditions this week, provided the Middle East conflict doesn’t escalate. With earnings season beginning later this week, markets will hopefully focus more on economic data rather than geopolitical risks,” said Ajay Bagga, a banking and market expert.

Among sectoral indices, Nifty IT led the charge, rising over 1% in early trading, as major IT companies like TCS prepare to announce their quarterly results. Nifty Metal followed closely, gaining more than 0.9%.

ITC, Trent, and HCL Tech emerged as top gainers in Nifty 50, while Titan, Hindustan Unilever, and Britannia were among the leading losers.

Market analyst Varun Aggarwal from Profit Idea noted that while the near-term uptrend in Nifty 50 has turned downward, support remains at 25,000. He warned of market volatility, advising caution on long positions, and suggested that a move below 25,000 could trigger further declines toward 24,500.

Asian markets also rallied on Monday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 rising more than 1.8%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng up by 1.2%. South Korea and Taiwan markets also gained more than 1% during early trading.
