ATF Prices Up by 2%, LPG Prices Surge by 6.5 Rs Per Cylinder

On Thursday, the price of jet fuel, or Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF), was increased by 2 percent, while the cost of commercial LPG, used by hotels and restaurants, was raised by Rs 6.5 per 19-kg cylinder. These changes align with international oil price trends as part of the monthly revisions conducted by state-owned fuel retailers.

ATF prices were hiked by Rs 1,827.34 per kilolitre (kl), or 1.9 percent, bringing the new rate to Rs 97,975.72 per kl in the national capital. This marks the second consecutive monthly increase in jet fuel prices, following a 1.2 percent hike (Rs 1,179.37 per kl) on July 1, which itself came after a significant 6.5 percent reduction (Rs 6,673.87 per kl) on June 1. In Mumbai, the ATF rate was raised to Rs 91,650.34 per kl from the previous Rs 89,908.31. These rates vary across states due to local taxes.

Simultaneously, the price of commercial LPG was increased by Rs 6.5, reaching Rs 1,652.50 per 19-kg cylinder. This price adjustment comes after four consecutive monthly reductions, with the most recent being a Rs 30 per cylinder cut on July 1. Over the course of these reductions, the price had decreased by Rs 148 per 19-kg cylinder. As of now, commercial LPG costs Rs 1,605 per 19-kg cylinder in Mumbai, Rs 1,764.50 in Kolkata, and Rs 1,817 in Chennai.

The price of cooking gas used in domestic households remains unchanged at Rs 803 per 14.2-kg cylinder.

State-owned companies like Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) adjust the prices of ATF and cooking gas on the first day of each month, based on the average price of benchmark international fuel and the prevailing foreign exchange rate.

Meanwhile, the prices of petrol and diesel remain unchanged, having last been reduced by Rs 2 per litre in mid-March. Currently, petrol costs Rs 94.72 per litre in Delhi, while diesel is priced at Rs 87.62 per litre.
