Adani Airport Holdings Achieves 7% YoY Growth, Handles Over 1 Million Tonnes of Cargo

Adani Airport Holdings achieved a significant milestone by handling over one million tonnes of air cargo during the fiscal year 2023-2024, as reported in their filing on Sunday. This accomplishment underscores the company’s operational prowess and strategic expansion within the aviation sector.

Across seven airports under Adani’s umbrella, more than 10 lakh metric tonnes of cargo were facilitated in FY 2023-24, capturing an impressive 30.1% market share. This marks a notable 7% year-on-year increase compared to the previous fiscal year’s cargo tonnage.

In FY 2023-2024, Adani’s cargo operations were primarily international, accounting for 65% of the managed cargo. Key international destinations included Germany, Netherlands, the UAE, UK, and USA, while domestic sectors saw significant activity in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.

The international cargo tonnage amounted to 6,62,258 metric tonnes, reflecting a robust 9% year-on-year growth. This growth was driven by various commodities such as automobiles, pharmaceuticals, perishables, electricals/electronics, and engineering goods.

Arun Bansal, CEO of AAHL, remarked, “At Adani Airport Holdings Limited, we have consistently set new benchmarks for operational efficiency. The achievement of handling over 1 million tonnes of cargo this fiscal year solidifies our position as key facilitators in both international and domestic airfreight operations in India.”

In addition to this milestone, several notable events marked the fiscal year, including successful handling of Indigo’s first A320 neo freighter at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (Ahmedabad) and record-breaking volumes at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (Lucknow).

The accolades received by Adani Airport Holdings, notably Cargo Airport of the Year – Region India at Air Cargo India 2024 and The Best Cargo Airport – Efficiency & Digitization at the India Cargo Awards 2023, further underscore their commitment to excellence in air cargo operations.
