A passenger bus plunged into a 50-foot-deep gorge in the hills of Karauli village on the Madhya Pradesh-Maharashtra border, approximately 40 kilometers from Burhanpur district headquarters, resulting in several injuries.

The incident occurred on Saturday between 5:00 am and 6:00 am, and the villagers immediately alerted the police upon discovering the bus. Villagers and police worked together to rescue the passengers.

According to injured passengers, the bus, carrying over 40 passengers, was en route from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, to Akola, Maharashtra.

One of the injured passengers, Narayan Singh, told ANI, “The bus was traveling from Indore to Akola. The accident occurred around 5:00 am in the morning. I was asleep… The bus driver is at fault for the accident… He was navigating through rough roads.” Following initial treatment at the nearest health center, all passengers were transferred to the District Hospital Burhanpur for further treatment. Thankfully, no fatalities have been reported, but all passengers sustained minor injuries.

Burhanpur Tehsildar Rajendra Singh Chauhan informed ANI, “I was informed about the bus accident, and the injured passengers are receiving treatment at the hospital. Currently, 19 individuals have been admitted.”
