Last week, the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, bathed in purple lights to celebrate Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) third Indian Premier League (IPL) title win. Videos of the iconic moment quickly went viral on social media, capturing the excitement of fans worldwide.
KKR clinched victory in the IPL final on May 26 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets. The Shah Rukh Khan co-owned team’s triumph was commemorated in Dubai as Burj Khalifa illuminated in purple, the team’s signature color. The franchise shared a video of the breathtaking sight on social media with the caption: “View from the top. It’s all PURPLE.”

The illuminated structure displayed various images of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad and Shah Rukh Khan, along with the message: “Congratulations KKR. Congratulations SRK.” KKR had previously lifted the IPL trophy in 2012 and 2014 under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir.
Interestingly, Gambhir, the former KKR captain, now serves as the mentor of the team. He is also speculated to be the frontrunner for the position of the Indian men’s cricket team’s new coach, potentially replacing Rahul Dravid after his tenure concludes following the T20 World Cup in June.
