Rajasthan is preparing for upcoming assembly elections, along with the wedding season. The wedding season will commence from Devuthani Ekadashi, which is on 23rd November, and elections will also be held around the same time. In this situation, the biggest challenge can be seen in booking the marriage houses and other resources.
The District Election Officer has prepared a list of more than 3100 vehicles for hire for 19 assembly seats of Jaipur district. The list has been sent to the District Transport Officer for hiring of vehicles. But if the buses, taxis, labourers, etc., of the state, contribute to the elections, then will the few remaining people handle the responsibility of marriages
Due to the hiring of vehicles on such a large scale, the general public may also have to face problems.
There are around 30,000 private and 3,000 government buses in the entire state. Out of the total private buses, around 10,000 have been booked for weddings. However, Jaipur Division Bus Operator Association Rajasthan has not given consent to the Election Commission as it is difficult for bus operators to work at fixed low rates.
When asked about the situation, Kailash Chand Sharma, President of Jaipur Division Bus Operator Association Rajasthan said, “The government should change the date of elections itself, because there is so much difficulty in booking buses. It is difficult to handle transport and elections simultaneously. Should people go to weddings or vote? We have thirty thousand private buses, out of which ten thousand have been booked for weddings. Even after so much crisis, the Election Commission wants to book buses at low rates.”
The problem will arise when the decoration costs increase due to labour shortage, as all parties and workers will need labour to perform several election-related works.
