The Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, who was injured in a militant attack in Manipur’s Moreh on Tuesday, is now in stable condition after being transferred to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal. The attack, which occurred in Moreh town, left four police commandos and one BSF jawan injured.
A senior BSF official provided an update, stating, “The injured jawan was on picket duty when the attack happened. He suffered injuries along with state police commandos. They all have been shifted to RIMS.” The injured jawan is currently receiving treatment at RIMS, and his condition is reported to be stable.
The incident occurred amid heightened tensions in Moreh, leading to the reimposition of curfew on Sunday in the Tengnoupal district of Manipur. Intermittent gunfights between armed individuals and state police commandos since Saturday afternoon prompted the renewed curfew.
The violence, rooted in clashes between the Kuki and Meitei communities, initially erupted following a rally by the All Tribal Students Union of Manipur (ATSUM) on May 3, 2023. The ongoing unrest and loss of lives led to the deployment of paramilitary forces by the Centre to restore peace in the region.
