The Border Security Force (BSF) recovered a China-made quadcopter drone along with a packet of suspected heroin in Roranwala Khurd village, Amritsar, on Wednesday.
During an area domination patrol ahead of the border fencing, BSF troops detected a suspicious item in a farming field near Village Roranwala Khurd around 8:00 AM on November 15, 2023. Upon detailed inspection, the recovered drone was identified as a quadcopter (Model DJI Mavic 3 Classic), manufactured in China.
Additionally, BSF troops found a packet containing a narcotic substance suspected to be heroin, weighing approximately 500 grammes and wrapped with yellow adhesive tape, in the same farming field ahead of the border fence.
In an official statement, BSF commended the vigilant troops for thwarting the nefarious designs of smugglers. The successful recovery once again highlights the BSF’s commitment to preventing illegal activities along the border.
This incident underscores the evolving tactics employed by smugglers, utilising advanced technology such as drones for their illegal activities. The BSF remains dedicated to maintaining the security and integrity of the border, employing modern surveillance techniques to counter emerging threats effectively.
