Bollywood and Television actor Mushtaq Khan, known for his roles in movies like Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Welcome, and Stree 2, has shared a chilling experience of his kidnapping from the Delhi-Meerut highway.
According to reports, Mushtaq Khan was invited to for an award function in Meerut on November 20, where he was promised to get paid as well. The person who invited him, named Rahul Saini transferred the actor an advance of Rs 25,000 and said he would pay the balance later. Rahul Saini also sent him air tickets from Mumbai to Delhi. When Mr. Khan reached Delhi on 20 November, he hopped into a taxi Rahul Saini had summoned.
There was another passenger in the car apart from the driver and the actor was told to sit in the car. The complainant alleges that later, two more people got into the car, the actor protested suspecting some trouble, but he was restrained and covered with a sheet. He was taken to a house, tortured and forced to deposit Rs. 2 Lakh to the kidnapper’s account.
The actor ran away and took refuge in a local mosque. When the captors were overcome by alcohol, a cleric helped him to contact his relatives. Later, his management filed a complaint seeking severe punishment for the culprits.
Earlier, a similar complaint was filed by police about the kidnapping of comedian Sunil Pal. On the way back from an event in Uttarakhand, Mr. Pal was kidnapped; later he was set free in Meerut. Meerut police is now investigating if there is any connection between actor Mushtaq Khan and comedian Sunil Pal’s case.
