Uncover Veerappan’s tale: ZEE5’s exclusive crime series

A new Tamil original series from ZEE5, titled ‘Koose Munisamy Veerappan,’ documents the life of sandalwood smuggler Veerappan. The series provides a deep dive into the life and escapades of the forest bandit, Koose Munisamy Veerappan. Through an interesting blend of real-life footage and firsthand accounts from individuals close to him, as well as officials who tirelessly sought to capture him, the series will vividly portray Veerappan’s enigmatic persona and his criminal legacy.
What sets this series apart is the fact that it will be primarily narrated by Veerappan himself, revealing his entire life story and uncovering unknown truths about the events that happened around him. The original Tamil series ‘Koose Munisamy Veerappan’ will be exclusively available for streaming on ZEE5 in four different languages – Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, and Telugu from 8th December.
Veerappan, the infamous figure who haunted the dense forests of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and parts of Kerala for nearly three decades, met his end in a dramatic encounter with the Special Task Force (STF).
While his legacy is now a part of history and police archives, the upcoming ZEE5 Tamil original series. ‘Koose Munisamy Veerappan’ is a unique and distinctly Tamil narrative, by Veerappan himself, providing a fresh perspective.
Nakkheeran Gopal, the journalist who met Veerappan many times and negotiated with him on behalf of state governments, has worked on the series. He said, “We have invested huge efforts and taken significant risks to secure an interview with Veerappan. For the first time, this detailed version of the interview will be presented in a documentary narrative to the audience on the ZEE5 OTT platform under the title “Koose Munisamy Veerappan.” It is imperative that Veerappan’s story be portrayed with honesty and completeness, incorporating the narratives of the victims. This series is not merely a documentary; it transcends the genre to become an engaging action thriller.”
