Triptii Dimri’s dance performance in the song “Mere Mehboob” has sparked controversy on social media, with users calling it “cringe” and “embarrassing.” For the first time, the actor has addressed the negative reactions, admitting that she did not expect this level of criticism.

Triptii’s Reaction to Criticism

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Triptii was asked about the hook step in the song, which many viewers found uncomfortable. She responded by saying, “Not really… As an actor, I’m trying to do different things. Earlier, I thought being an actor only required acting skills. But now, I’ve learned that if you’re offered a dance number, you should know how to dance well. I may not excel in everything, but what’s wrong with trying? You must give it your best.”

Triptii, who stars in Animal, also shared that this was her first dance number and she was surprised by the backlash it received. She further explained, “There will always be things people don’t like, but that doesn’t mean you stop experimenting or doing what you love. If you focus too much on what people think, you won’t stay true to your craft.”

About Song ‘Mere Mehboob’

Choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, Mere Mehboob features Triptii performing pelvic thrusts while lying on the floor. Although the tune is catchy, the choreography has received mixed reactions, with some viewers labeling certain moves as “cringe-worthy.”

The song is from the upcoming film Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, starring Rajkummar Rao and directed by Raaj Shaandilya. The film, a comedy revolving around a lost sex tape of a newlywed couple from the ’90s, also features Mallika Sherawat, Vijay Raaz, and others. It is scheduled for release on October 11.
