Tabu is now scheduled to appear in Bhooth Bangla. That follows a well-received performance in Dune: Prophecy, a sci-fi prequel to Denis Villeneuve’s iconic film franchise. The news was released through her Instagram, where she published a shot of a clapboard with candles in the foreground, captioning it, “Hum yahan bandh hain (we are trapped here).“She tagged director Priyadarshan, Balaji Motion Pictures, and co-stars Akshay Kumar, Jisshu Sengupta, Wamiqa Gabbi, and music composer Pritam.

With Bhooth Bangla, she revisits this horror-comedy genre in which she did superlatively work as the twins witches, Manjulika and Anjulika of Anees Bazmee 2022, blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Along with this comedy, she does well in 2017s hit film for Rohit Shetty’s, Golmaal Again.
Interestingly, Bhooth Bangla reunites Tabu with collaborators Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar, both of whom have been instrumental in some of her past successes. Priyadarshan directed her in Virasat (1997), the cult classic Hera Pheri (2000), and other regional hits like Snegithiye (Tamil) and Raakilipattu (Malayalam). Meanwhile, Akshay and Tabu have shared the screen in films like Hera Pheri and Tu Chor Main Sipahi (1996).
Excited by the prospect, fans reacted as one of the Instagram users noted, “Manjulika meeting Dr Aditya Shrivastava (bow down emoji),” referring to the characters that Tabu and Akshay were portraying from the Bhool Bhulaiyaa series.
The Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures will also be presenting Bhooth Bangla. Wamiqa Gabbi, who starred recently with Tabu in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Khufiya (2023), will feature in the movie as well. Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan, who gave several super hits in the past with films such as Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, Khatta Meetha, and De Dana Dan, are back for this high-profile project as well.
The movie is set to release on April 2, 2026, and will promise a reunion of talents with the right mix of humor and horror that fans have been waiting for.
