Following a positive response to the trailer, the team behind the Ananya Panday-led series Call Me Bae released the first single, “Vekh Sohneyaa,” on Tuesday. The music video was shared on Instagram with the caption, “Here’s a ‘Bae’ approved track you shouldn’t miss. #VekhSohneyaa out now!”
The track, composed, written, and performed by Charan and Bombay the Artist, marks their debut in OTT music production, with Dishant producing the song. The video features Ananya Panday, also known as Bae, as she embarks on a new chapter in Mumbai. Amid the city’s vibrancy, Bae explores self-discovery through her close friendships and budding romance.
Ananya Panday expressed her excitement, saying, “The response to the trailer has been amazing, and I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to my character Bella and the series. From the moment I heard ‘Vekh Sohneyaa,’ I was hooked. It’s captured my heart and is on repeat in my playlist. Big thanks to the music team for creating such a vibe that’s got everyone, including me, dancing!”
Charan, who co-wrote and performed the track, described “Vekh Sohneyaa” as a celebration of self-discovery and unexpected love. He said, “We aimed to create an experience that reflects the emotional journey of the series, capturing Ananya’s character and the lively spirit of BomBae.”
Bombay the Artist, who lent her vocals to the song, shared her enthusiasm: “Bringing ‘Vekh Sohneyaa’ to life has been fantastic. The track draws you into the world of Call Me Bae from the first note, embodying the energetic yet soulful vibe of BomBae and Bella’s journey. I’m excited for the audience to experience the series through this track.”
The series recently revealed a trailer full of humor and emotion. It starts with Bae’s opulent life in New Delhi, which takes a turn when her family disowns her. The story then shifts to Mumbai, where Bae must adapt to her new circumstances. The upbeat music underscores her efforts to adjust to life in the city, including navigating public transport and a demanding journalism career.
Produced by Dharmatic Entertainment and featuring Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra as executive producers, Call Me Bae is directed by Collin D’Cunha and created by Ishita Moitra, who co-wrote the series with Samina Motlekar and Rohit Nair. The series is set to premiere on Prime Video on September 6.
