Bollywood star Preity Zinta has vehemently condemned the Congress party’s Kerala branch for reportedly spreading “fake news” that she had loans written off and transferred her social media handles to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Outraged by the allegations, she stressed that the loan in question was “fully paid back” ten years ago.
The row broke out after Congress Kerala posted a message implying the Veer Zaara actress got her Rs 18 crore loan forgiven in return for handing over control of her social media handles to the BJP.
Preity Zinta’s Blunt Denial on Social Media
Denying the charges, Preity went on to X (formerly Twitter) and said, “No I operate my social media accounts my self and shame on you for promoting FAKE NEWS ! No one wrote off anything or any loan for me. I’m shocked that a political party or their representative is promoting fake news & indulging in vile gossip & click baits using my name & images.”

She continued to explain, “For the record a loan was taken and FULLY PAID BACK – over 10 years ago. Hope this clarifies and helps so there are no misunderstandings in the future.”
Actress Accuses Media of Spreading Misinformation
Preity also condemned some media organizations for posting unsubstantiated reports without verification. In another post, she was critical of the lack of responsibility in journalism.
“So much misinformation going around, but thank god for social media and thank god for X!” she posted.

Furthermore, she demanded more responsibility from media outlets, “I think it’s time we start holding them responsible right here so there is some accountability in the future.” “Next time please call me and find out if the story is true or not before mentioning my name,” she added.
Preity’s Opinions on Political Labels & Perception of the Public
Previously, the actress also spoke about how cynicism has been rising on social media, especially when people admire public leaders. “If you appreciate your PM, you are a bhakt… if you are a proud Hindu or Indian, then you’re an ‘Andh Bhakt’!” she posted.
Adding to that, she asked people to look at people as they are instead of judging them based on fixed opinions. “Let’s keep it real folks and take people for who they are and not who we think they should be!”
What’s happening to people on social media? Everyone has become so cynical. If one talks about their first chat with an AI Bot then people presume it’s a paid promotion, if you appreciate ur PM then you are a bhakt & god forbid, if you are a proud Hindu or Indian 🇮🇳then ur an…
