Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, who sustained stab wounds during a home invasion on January 16, has recorded his statement with the Bandra police. Recounting the harrowing ordeal, Saif revealed that he and his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, were in their bedroom on the 11th floor of the Satguru Sharan building when they heard their younger son Jehangir’s nanny screaming.
Intruder Confrontation and Attack
Upon rushing to their son Jeh’s room, the couple encountered the alleged intruder, identified as Sariful Islam. According to Saif Ali Khan’s statement, their nanny, Eliyama Philips, was in distress while Jeh was crying inconsolably. In an attempt to restrain the attacker, Saif was stabbed multiple times on his back, neck, and hands. Despite his injuries, the actor managed to push the intruder into the room, allowing the nanny to escape with Jeh and lock the attacker inside.
Swift Police Action and Arrest
At the time of the intrusion, Saif Ali Khan’s entire family—including Kareena Kapoor Khan and their two sons, Jeh and Taimur—were in their residence. The attacker had reportedly entered the 12th-floor apartment with an intention to commit burglary. Further investigations revealed that the accused, an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh, had entered India last year.
Following a massive three-day manhunt involving at least 20 police teams, the suspect was apprehended in Thane, near Mumbai, last week.
Ongoing Investigation
The Mumbai Police are continuing their investigation into the security lapse that allowed the intruder access to the high-rise apartment. Authorities are also looking into the background of the accused and potential accomplices.
