Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma has often been accused of arrogance, especially after his very public fallout with ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ co-star Sunil Grover. Actor Upasana Singh, who was part of Kapil Sharma’s previous comedy shows had once claimed that his tight schedule did not even allow him to greet her properly.
Comedian Rajiv Thakur, another co-star of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, has now bailed out Kapil, mentioning the kind of pressure he undergoes. Rajiv also spoke about Kapil’s much-debated tiff with Sunil Grover, which forced the latter to leave ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’, while the two reunited years later on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’.
Rajiv Thakur’s on Allegations Against Kapil Sharma
Comedian Rajiv Thakur stated that Kapil Sharma is not arrogant by saying that he carries a huge amount of workload. He said, “He is under a lot of pressure, and people don’t realize that. Memorizing a 2 to 2.5-hour-long script without fumbling is no small feat. He makes every entry with a punchline, makes the guests feel at home, and works on what the creative team wants.”
Highlighting Kapil’s dedication, he added, “If the show has been running successfully for 10-12 years, it’s because of his relentless hard work. It’s not arrogance. If I were as famous as him, I might lose my mind too.”
Commenting on Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover’s previous tiff, Thakur said, “Who doesn’t have tiffs? If their fight was that serious, then how are they working with each other and having a good time with each other today? Money can bring people together professionally, but the bond they share on the sets and even after shooting proves they are definitely bonded. Their careers did not take a toll as they both remained unaffected when they parted ways. Kapil did just fine without Sunil on the show, and Sunil was doing okay too. There’s no attempt at forcing that relationship—it feels organic.”
Reflecting on Kapil’s journey, Rajiv recalled how he never let personal struggles impact those around him. “Kapil has always been strong. He never tried to justify himself because doing so would have only made things worse. By staying silent, he let time heal things, and now, everyone wants to work with him again,” he shared.
Rajiv Thakur remembered the time when Kapil came forward and went all out for his career. He said, “I had to give up on the film IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack as we were to go live in the USA during our scheduled tour. But Kapil postponed the tour by a month just so I could take up the film. He told me, ‘What difference will a month make? ‘ If he hadn’t done that, I wouldn’t have been part of the project.
His gesture meant so much to me, and I couldn’t bring myself to let him down.”
