Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan meet on set after 21 years!

On Thursday, Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan met on the studio floors after 21 years. Both the Indian stars were shooting for different projects next door to each other in the same studio. Kamal Haasan is shooting for his film Indian 2 with director Shankar while Rajinikanth is shooting for Thalaivar 170 directed by TJ Gnanavel.
The photos of the surprise meeting the two top stars of Tamil cinema sent their fans into a tizzy on social media. The stars reportedly discussed their upcoming projects. Rajinikanth is heard saying to Kamal in the video on social media that it has been ages since they met in the same studio. Rajini hugged Kamal tightly and both shared a laugh as well. Produced by Red Giant Movies and Lyca Productions, Indian 2 is a sequel to Kamal Haasan’s 1996 film, Indian, and also stars SJ Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth and Rakul Preet Singh, among others. Meanwhile, Thalaivar 170, also produced by Lyca Productions, features Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Dagubatti and Manju Warrier. Rajini and Kamal have worked in numerous films together, the last being the Hindi film Geraftaar (1985) directed by Prayag Raj. Fans around the world have been asking for the two stars to work together in a film again before they sign off from cinema but that is yet to Happen.
While Kamal is working in four films in 2024, Rajini has two lined up.
Rajini’s film Lal Salaam, directed by his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth, will release for Sankranti/ Pongal 2024. Indian 2 is likely to be Kamal’s first release of 2024.
