‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ Advance Bookings Surpass KGF 2, Pathaan; 3 Lakh Tickets Sold In Just 12 Hours

Advance bookings for Pushpa 2: The Rule opened at midnight on December 1, four days ahead of its scheduled release in theaters. Starring Allu Arjun, the film has become one of the most highly anticipated Indian movies in recent times. The early hours of advance sales have proven this hype, with pre-bookings soaring at an unprecedented rate, even surpassing the records set by all-time blockbusters like Pathaan, Gadar 2, and KGF Chapter 2.

Advance booking collections

In the first 12 hours of advance bookings, Pushpa 2: The Rule sold over 3 lakh tickets for its opening day, grossing over ₹10 crore in India, according to Sacnilk. This pace is faster than Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, which sold just under 2 lakh tickets in the same period in January 2023, a record considered one of the best in recent times. Among pan-India films, Pushpa 2 is also outperforming the Kannada blockbuster KGF Chapter 2. The 2022 film sold 1.25 lakh tickets for its Hindi-dubbed version in the first 12 hours, while Pushpa 2 has already sold 1.8 lakh Hindi tickets by noon on December 1, marking a significant lead.

In the first 12 hours, Pushpa 2 grossed over ₹5.5 crore in Hindi and ₹3 crore in Telugu. With four days still to go before release, these numbers are expected to keep rising and may easily surpass a million tickets, a milestone achieved by films like Pathaan and Jawan. It could also surpass the ₹58.73 crore advance booking record set by SS Rajamouli’s RRR.

Can it surpass Baahubali 2: The Conclusion?

In terms of day one advance bookings, two pan-India blockbusters have set the bar. KGF Chapter 2 holds the highest pre-sale numbers in the post-pandemic era, grossing ₹80 crore in day-one pre-sales across all languages. The film ranks just behind Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2, which collected ₹90 crore in 2017. Trade experts believe Pushpa 2 is on track to match or even surpass this figure.

The Telugu single-screen bookings for Pushpa 2 opened on Sunday afternoon, and theaters quickly began filling up. If the film can maintain this pace for even one more day, it could surpass the advance bookings of films like Pathaan, Jawan, and Gadar 2 in no time. A final-day surge on December 4 could push Pushpa 2 towards ₹100 crore in advance bookings, setting a new record. However, this will depend on whether the film can maintain its early momentum over the next three days.

Pushpa 2: The Rule

Pushpa 2: The Rule, directed by Sukumar, is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2021 hit Pushpa: The Rise. Allu Arjun reprises his role as the titular anti-hero, with Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil also returning. The sequel will see Pushpa (Arjun) face off against Shekhawat (Faasil). In a recent Instagram post, the film’s female lead, Rashmika, hinted at the possibility of a third installment.
