Priyanka Chopra Highlights Key Difference Between Bollywood And Hollywood: ‘We Have A Lot More Jugaad’

Priyanka Chopra recently returned to India after an extended stay in the US, where she attended the launch of her new brand, Max Factor, in Mumbai. The actor spoke with Forbes India about the difference between working in Bollywood and Hollywood, here:

“. Well, we all have our cultural things that we like and how we work. I guess the one big difference that I had noticed between Hollywood and Bollywood is that Hollywood has a lot of paperwork. 100 emails that will come to you before the next day. Timings are very specific… depend upon what time you wrapped the night before. It’s not like there is any playing space unless you are actually working with a filmmaker like that. Really tight and very organized, she said.

The actor added, “We have a lot more ‘jugaad’ (winging it) and get stuff done”. We are like a little romantic about it like ‘Arey ho jayega, kar lenge’, so it is like a very different way of working but that is also true to the countries themselves. I think our creativity can be super organic sometimes. That’s the big difference I have seen otherwise filmmaking around the world speaks the same language.

Priyanka also said she loves Bollywood’s trademark slow-motion dance numbers and lip-synching. In this frame, Priyanka was spotted dancing merrily to Bollywood tracks at the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Mumbai early this year.

Most recently, she featured in the American romantic comedy Love Again and will feature next in the movie Heads of State, starring Idris Elba and John Cena. There is also a role for her in historical drama The Bluff, where she will play a female Caribbean pirate from the 19th century.
