Kumar Vishwas has come under fire for his recent remarks about Shatrughan Sinha and Sonakshi Sinha. During a poetry event in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, he made comments that many perceived as a jibe at the veteran actor and his daughter. Unsurprisingly, these remarks quickly triggered widespread criticism online.
What Did Kumar Vishwas Say?
At the event, Vishwas remarked, “Teach your children about Ramayana. Otherwise, it might so happen that while your house is named ‘Ramayana,’ someone else might take away your household’s ‘Lakshmi.’” This statement, which seemed directed at the Sinha family, drew attention because their Mumbai residence is named ‘Ramayana.’ Furthermore, it came shortly after Sonakshi Sinha’s marriage to Zaheer Iqbal, hinting at her interfaith relationship.
@DrKumarVishwas#WeSupportkumarvishwas pic.twitter.com/skHneYyYBi

Congress Leader Condemns Remarks
Meanwhile, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate strongly criticized Vishwas for his comments. She labeled them “cheap” and disrespectful toward women. Taking to X, she questioned, “Would you make such lewd comments about someone else’s daughter and expect applause?” Shrinate also demanded that Vishwas apologize to both Shatrughan and Sonakshi for his remarks.
Outrage on Social Media
Similarly, netizens expressed their anger over Vishwas’s statements. Many accused him of meddling in Sonakshi’s personal life. Others described his comments as outdated and patriarchal. Social media platforms were flooded with posts calling for greater respect for individual choices.
Mukesh Khanna’s Recent Controversy
Notably, this incident follows another controversy involving Sonakshi. Recently, actor Mukesh Khanna criticized her for a lack of knowledge about the Ramayana. He referenced a 2019 Kaun Banega Crorepati episode where Sonakshi failed to answer a question about the epic.
In response, Sonakshi hit back, saying, “Stop bringing up the same incident to stay relevant at the expense of me and my family.” Shatrughan Sinha also defended his daughter, asking, “Who has made him the guardian of Hindu religion?” He questioned Khanna’s authority to judge Sonakshi’s understanding of the Ramayana.
Overall, these incidents highlight the undue scrutiny public figures often face. As debates around gender sensitivity and respect grow, many are calling for an end to such personal attacks. Accountability and a focus on respectful dialogue remain crucial for fostering a more inclusive discourse.
