The knife attack on actor Saif Ali Khan has left the film industry stunned, raising serious concerns about security breaches in his upscale Bandra residence. The actor, who sustained six stab wounds, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery and is now recovering.

Police have launched a massive manhunt, deploying 20 teams to track down the intruder. The incident took place at the Satguru Sharan building, where Saif lives with his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their two sons.

Investigators revealed that the attacker scaled the wall of a neighboring compound to access the premises. Using a rear stairwell, the intruder reached the actor’s floor and entered through the fire escape, suggesting prior familiarity with the building’s layout.

The ordeal began when Jeh’s nanny, Eliyama Philip, noticed something unusual around 2 a.m. “I saw the bathroom door ajar with the light on and assumed it was Kareena Kapoor. Soon I sensed something was wrong. When I checked, a man emerged from the bathroom and entered Taimur and Jeh’s room,” she said.

Confronting the intruder, the nanny said he demanded ₹1 crore. She tried to resist and was injured, while another staff member, Junu, alerted Saif. The actor confronted the attacker but was stabbed six times. Another house help, Geeta, managed to assist Saif in subduing the assailant and locking him in a room.

The family retreated to the upper floor, but by the time help arrived, the intruder had escaped. CCTV footage later showed him fleeing via the sixth floor, and police suspect he used the fire shaft to reach the ground floor and exited through the rear.

The entire incident lasted approximately 30 minutes. Saif suffered severe injuries, including a stab wound to his spine, which caused spinal fluid leakage. He was transported to Lilavati Hospital in an auto-rickshaw due to the lack of a ready vehicle. Doctors performed plastic surgeries on his hand and neck and treated the spinal injury.

Police have registered a case of robbery, trespassing, and causing grievous hurt and continue to investigate the circumstances of the attack.
