Shortly after Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s grand wedding in 2007, Shweta Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan were asked to offer their newlywed daughter-in-law some marriage advice during an appearance on Koffee With Karan. The mother-daughter duo, joined by Hema Malini and Esha Deol, took part in a candid conversation with Karan Johar on the second season of the show, which has since become iconic.

No Advice Needed for Aishwarya

During the rapid-fire round, Karan Johar asked Shweta and Jaya Bachchan if they had any words of wisdom for Aishwarya in her new role as a wife. Shweta responded with heartfelt praise, saying, “She is perfect. I don’t think she needs any advice. She has immense patience, which will take her far. She’s absolutely fine.” This acknowledgment of Aishwarya’s grace and strength set the tone for the rest of the conversation.

Jaya Bachchan echoed her daughter’s sentiments, adding, “She should continue being as loving and dignified as she is.” The words reflected the family’s high regard for Aishwarya and their confidence in her ability to manage her new life effortlessly.

Aishwarya and Abhishek’s Journey

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai’s love story began long before their wedding in April 2007. The duo worked together in films such as Dhai Akshar Prem Ke (2000) and Kuch Naa Kaho (2003), but their romance truly blossomed during the filming of Umrao Jaan in 2005-2006. Their bond strengthened while working on projects like Dhoom 2 and Guru, leading to Abhishek proposing to Aishwarya during the premiere of Guru in New York.

In a later interview, Amitabh Bachchan shared the touching moment when Abhishek called him from the US after proposing to Aishwarya. Amitabh recalled, “Abhishek called me and said he proposed to her. I said, ‘Come home.’ I asked Aishwarya if she was happy, and when she said yes, I told her, ‘This is your home now.’”

A Love That Lasts

Seventeen years later, Abhishek and Aishwarya continue to stand strong together. They share a daughter, Aaradhya, and have remained one of Bollywood’s most admired and celebrated couples. Their relationship, built on friendship and mutual respect, has set an example for many.
