Sunny Deol Open to Working with Shah Rukh Khan. Sunny Deol is currently busy promoting his upcoming film Jaat, which releases on April 10. During a recent interaction, he opened up about the possibility of working again with Shah Rukh Khan, his co-star from the 1993 thriller Darr.
A Look Back at ‘Darr’ and Moving Forward
The film Darr, recently re-released in theatres, is still remembered for its gripping storyline and powerful performances. But many fans also recall the fallout between Sunny and Shah Rukh during the shoot, which led to them not collaborating again. Despite the past, the two actors seemed to have moved on, especially after Shah Rukh Khan attended the success party of Gadar 2, showing a friendly gesture.
When asked during PinkVilla’s Masterclass which actor he would like to team up with for a two-hero film, Sunny responded warmly, saying,
“Aise decide karna kiske saath karunga nahi… I mean, I would love to do it. I think anyone who is… Shah Rukh ke saath ek hi film ki thi. Toh ek aur kar sakte hain.” He added, “It would be nice because that was a different period, and now it’s a different period, so definitely.”

Filmmaking Has Changed Over Time
Sunny also reflected on how cinema has changed over the years. He noted that earlier, filmmakers had complete control over their projects, but that’s no longer the case.
“Pehle humare directors had control over the whole thing. Aaj kal humare directors ke paas itna control nahi hai aur kahaniyaan waisi ban bhi nahi rahi hain, which will justify the images of the actors. Woh bahut zaruri hai.”
He pointed out how important it is for the story to match the persona of the actors involved. He remarked with a smile, “Itne saare stars lelo ek picture mein lekin kahaani hi nahi hogi toh kya karoge?”
Shifting Trends in Bollywood
Sunny also talked about changing trends in Bollywood. He said that cinema goes through different phases, and what’s in style keeps evolving.
“Definitely it’s interesting aur har cheez ka ek period aata hai. Pehle bhi single heroes hote the fir woh logon ko nahi accha lag raha tha; suddenly then multi-starrers started coming. That became a fashion.”
Sunny’s next film Jaat features him in an action-packed role and also stars Randeep Hooda and Vineet Kumar Singh. The film is set to hit cinemas on April 10.
